How To Save $100 Per Month By Cutting Cable

Are you ready to have more spending money each month?

We’ll show you how by getting rid of your cable and replacing it with much cheaper (or even free) options.

How much is your cable bill? If you’re like many, you’re paying anywhere from $100 to even $200 per month to entertain you and your family. Is that expense really necessary, though? The answer is no, especially when there are so many cheaper options nowadays that have cable companies nervous.

While it could be said that cable is convenient, we’re about to show you several easy ways to replace it. And even though some have costs of their own, they should still save you money each month, as cable costs have gotten out of hand.

Tips to Replace Your Cable Subscription

Call your company

If you enjoy your cable lineup but don’t like how much you’re paying each month, a quick phone call could help you cut your costs.

Call your cable company and let them know you’re unhappy. If you had any instances when the cable went out or service issues, detail them to strengthen your argument. Then say you’re looking to cancel your subscription, as you feel you’re overpaying and want to see what the competition has to offer.

Stating all of the above should get the customer service rep to offer a discount to retain you. While the discount may not be forever, you could end up with a lower bill for a few months or enjoy some free perks, such as premium channels at no cost.

Get tons of free channels from a cheap antenna

If you’re ready to cut the cord and ditch your cable company for good, buying an HD antenna for about $15 should be your first move. After screwing it into the back of your TV, you should be able to receive channels like FOX, CBS, NBC, ABC, and PBS, plus even more local channels. Not only are they free, but they come in HD.

Stream free services

The HD antenna will provide the foundation to replace your cable lineup while keeping the essentials. Now, you can add to your entertainment via free services that act like Netflix, but have zero cost.

For example, Pluto TV, Tubi, Vudu, Crackle, and the Roku Channel are all free. And they all offer tons of movies and TV shows that can ensure there’s never a dull moment in your home.

You can stream those free services via your laptop, smartphone, or tablet. If you have a Smart TV, you can stream them from there as well, or you can make an old TV “smart-like” by installing a device like Roku, Amazon Fire Stick, or Apple TV.

Add low-cost paid services

If you’re okay with spending a bit each month for entertainment, try one premium service per month. For instance, one month, you can sign up for Netflix and see everything they have to offer.
Then you can switch to Hulu and Prime Video in the following months to enjoy tons of content while keeping your costs low.

If you want to replace your cable lineup altogether with a cheaper alternative, opt for something like Sling TV or Hulu with live TV. Both can give you lengthy lineups for about half the cost of cable.
